The 60’s

And by the 60’s I mean…

#60 Play mini golf. Try to get a hole in one.

and

#65 Go on a bike ride.

Day Two of vacation began sunny and bright at 7:00 am. A check on the weather forecast showed that the massive storm that had hit the night before had moved farther South and we were in the clear for the rest of the week. With a new town to explore what else could I do but hop on my bike and see what there was to discover. As much as I love bike riding, my home town is the single worst place in the world to go for a bike ride. The reason? Hills, hills, hills. Despite my love of sports I find huffing and puffing up a gigantic hill in 90 degree heat…well not very enjoyable to say the least. However I was at the beach with nay a hill in sight and it was such lovely breezy day, to not go bike riding would have been a sin. With this is mind I set out and successfully completed #65.

As nighttime approached on Day Two I begged my tired family to go mini golfing. One of the things I have noticed in my admittedly short lifetime is that mini golf places seem to flourish in commercial beach towns. Wether your on the West Coast or the East Coast, if your by the seashore you are sure to find an abundance of these put-put palaces. Now as I said before, I tried to get a hole in one…and ended up getting two hole in ones! Bonus! I was confident that with such a spectacular score I would win by a landslide and hardly tried to suppress my cockiness. So imagine my astonishment and embarrassment when I discovered I had come in a disappointing second. This unforseen outcome left me flabbergasted and I assumed the only reasonable explanation was that the score had been miscalculated. When the score was recounted and I received the news that I truly had not won, I dejectedly left, wistfully thinking about how close I had come to being victorious. However in the parking lot, as I was preparing to step into the car, I happened to look down and find a five dollar bill! It may not have been five hundred dollars, but it worked pretty well in cheering me up after my botched attempt at put-put. 🙂

May the summer be ever in your favor,
