115. Participate in a Shakespeare production/See a Shakespeare production

Romeo and Juliet is  Shakespeare’s most well know play. This tragic tale of star-crossed lovers has lasted the toils of time and proven its worth as a beloved classic.

Sure the above statement may be  true, but honestly, at thirteen years old reading Shakespeare in English class was one of the most heinous school tasks I’ve ever encountered, though it did pale in comparison to Frankenstein…gosh I hate that book. Luckily I had an amazing teacher so the experience wasn’t completely awful. But when I somehow got roped into acting in a production of “Much Ado About Nothing” for my town’s Shakespeare festival I was absolutely horrified. I’m more of a behind the scenes girl, more comfortable in the shadows then center stage and was petrified at the thought of acting in front of an audience. However when the time came to actually perform I discovered I have a hidden talent for Shakespearian acting, thus my obsession with this long-dead playwright began.

Obviously after discovering my hidden talent I wanted to put it to good use, but sadly that just didn’t work out and I settled for seeing a performance of one of Shakespeare’s plays. The *insert name of my town* Shakespeare Company was performing Romeo and Juliet, so I dragged my wonderful dear friend Grant out of his oh-so-comfortable home and out into the hot night to watch, what I’m sure for him was three hours of absolute torture. I, however, loved it and now own Grant big-time. #115 has been completed, finished, and enjoyed.

#41 Buy a goldfish.

Meet Frederico Alvarez, beta fish extraordinaire.  Oh how I feel like such a child, picking out my little fishy. I swear it took me an hour just to look at and examine all the fish PetSmart had to offer, before deciding this red-finned glory was right for me. Do you realize there are over fifteen different kinds of betta fish? You have the crown tail, the butterfly, the comb tail, the half-moon, the delta tail, the double tail, the veil tail, the round tail, the plakat…you could write a five hundred page novel just on betta fish. Frederico, however, is a red veil tail betta and he is fantastically entertaining…don’t judge me on that last statement. I had forgotten how exciting it was to have a pet fish, since the last fish I had was over a year ago and ended in suicide (He decided to test the laws of nature and see if he could breathe air. Spoiler alert: he couldn’t.) And the last betta fish I had was years ago…I’m pretty sure she exploded. Surely Frederico’s life will not come to such a terrible demise as his fellow fish friends. There you have it #41 is done, done, and done!

May the summer be ever in you favor,

Meagan

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I know it says buy a goldfish, but I had to get Frederico! No goldfish could compare to the grace and elegance I saw in him!
